Release announcement: split with sumptuous screamo from Tigerscout of Baltimore & monumental melodic hardcore from Aviator of Massachusetts.

We are really excited to announce that we will be putting out a three way split record with two mind blowing bands from the states. The record will be released at the end of April and will feature tracks from ourselves, Tigerscout and Aviator. We’ve all been in love with their music since we first heard it and we couldn’t be happier sharing our art with them. We share some similarities in our sound but also some distinctive differences, and we reckon this is going to make for a really brilliant record. We also share the same DIY ethic and it’s always inspiring to meet like-minded people like these guys. All three bands are currently in the process of recording their tracks and everything is progressing well.

We'll keep you informed of details about release date and record label as and when these things get confirmed. There will hopefully be a label involved but we are yet to iron out details. But in the meantime, please check out the previous releases of these amazing bands on their band camp pages and support our fellow musicians: http://tigerscout.bandcamp.com/ and http://aviatorma.bandcamp.com/. You can buy their tracks for ridiculously cheap and everything helps.

GIG CANCELLED: Worcester, 29th Jan

Unfortunately our ‘comeback gig’ in Worcester on January 29th has had to be cancelled. The venue we were due to play, the Crown & Anchor, had some big drum n bass night and a few fights broke out. They have therefore had their entertainment license taken away from them so there will be no more shows there for the foreseeable future.

We are all gutted, we’ve been preparing for this show for a while now and the crowd there is always great. So we are sorry not to see our friends and play for you all.

On the bright side, we have announced four shows in March in various places around the country. Head over to our facebook page for those details. I haven’t got round to making space for gigs on our website here but when I do they will be there. Thanks all for the continued support and hopefully see some of you at one of those shows. As I said before, if there is anyone else out there who wants to put us on, just get in touch. Thanks

Looking for shows...

2011 is here and what better way to start it off than playing a small sweaty show with some good friends in Worcester? January 29th we’re doing just that and you should be there too. It was actually the venue of our last show, about a year and a half ago and we’re happy that we play there for our first show with this new line-up.

But we want more!

If you are a promoter, or you know some good promoters who put on shows, pretty much anywhere in the UK, then get in touch if you want to put us on. We really don’t think we would disappoint anyone with our live show if you’re into passionate and energetic music. We’d love to play in new places as well as the old so just ask us and we’ll do our best to be there.

In other news, Bart and Dave tracked their guitar parts for this new release we’re working on. Three tracks from us and hopefully some more from elsewhere but we’ll announce that when all the details are ironed out. Stay tuned!

Kris opens a tattoo studio

So our drummer, Kris, is a tattoo artist. Pretty handy for a hardcore band, though Dave is currently the only one to have Kris’ prick inside of him.

Kris has just opened his own tattoo studio and is taking bookings at a really good starting rate. He’s a really talented artist and you can head over to his new website to check out some of his work and find out more information.

You don’t have to have Stella Dawes tattooed the length of your shaft but Kris is more than willing to give it a go.
Though for Dave we might have to abbreviate it to SD.

New Mailing List Up

We’ve just set up a mailing list. Our previous one didn’t work for some users so we’ve made a new one. Thanks to Dominik for pointing it out! There is now a link at the top of our website to take you straight to the form so please come and sign up. We promise to never bombard you with useless information but it’s just an easy way to keep you up to date when we have something exciting to announce. The location field is just so we can let you know if we’re playing a show near you. We try to keep everything as personal as possible so we don’t have to inform all you guys in the States when we are playing a show in Basingstoke, etc.

Also, for anyone who managed to sign up for the old one, we still have your details.

Salvation in Salvatore

I know what you’re thinking...

“Three months without a member change, that’s some kind of record for Stella Dawes?”

Well although our initial line-up was solid for a few years, since the departures of Steve and Si yes we have flirted with quite a few musicians. But, we do have more news. You see, we have been busy. When you guys sleep at night, we look for bass guitarists. And it is now time to introduce the newest addition to the family. We thought we would see how he fits in before announcing this monumental event to the world but it is finally time. So please raise your glasses for the beautiful Salvatore Aricò! He’s already an amazing addition to the band; he looks great, he’s a great bass player, did I mention he looks great? We found him lurking in north London, which is the best place to find bass guitarists. He’s got an incredible attitude towards playing music and we’ve all become friends in a very short space of time.

“But the band’s based in Birmingham?!”

Who gives a shit! We’ve always said we can make anything work with people who have the same attitude. Salvo and I now both travel over two hours to get to practice each week, with Dave and Bart still racking up over one hour fifteen each too. It’s absolutely mental, but I think you have to be if you want to play music. It would be far too easy to give it all up and finally have some money to spend, some free time to ourselves. But I am really struggling to think what I would be doing if I wasn’t playing music. I don’t think there is anything any of us would rather do. I know we’re not playing shows again just yet but it feels like we are a band again, and we just have to keep working hard on our new set and get it out there.

“Does that mean we’ll see Salvo in action at a show soon?”

Well yes it does. We have confirmed to play a show at the Crown & Anchor in Worcester on Jan 29th. I think by the sounds of it this will be our first show back and we are all really excited about it. The last show we played there was brilliant and the promoters are great guys so head over to Rat Piss Promotions to show some love and help spread the word.

“Haven’t you got an EP coming out?”

Well we are yet to confirm the exact nature of it but we are fairly sure it will be a shared split with at least one other band, hopefully three, but we will update you on it soon. Drums are tracked for us, we’ll do the rest hopefully at the start of the year and yes Salvo is right on time to play on that too. By the way I uploaded some photos from the session on the Media page of our site so go take a look. We are excited to get this out there, I realise it has been a long time since our last release so we plan to follow this up with a full length as soon as we can. We all just want to work hard on it and make the songs the best they can be.

“You guys are all so ridiculously good looking, why aren’t you models?”

Calm down you at the back there. I know, but who are we to exploit these gifts we’ve been given? It would be wrong of us to make money out of the miracle of beauty. It is for you to admire, free of charge, at any dirty sweaty pub that will have us play. See you at a show soon!
